Capcom Co., Ltd. (株式会社カプコン, Kabushiki-gaisha Kapukon) is a Japanese video game developer and publisher of video games, known for creating multi-million-selling franchises such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, and Monster Hunter, as well as games based on the Disney animated properties. Originally established in 1979, it has since become an international enterprise with subsidiaries in North America, Europe, and East Asia.

Why They're Delightful

  1. They created some of the best fighting games ever made, Street Fighter II being one example.
  2. Their games contain awesome and memorable soundtracks.
  3. Beautifully drawn graphics in their old 2D games.
  4. One of the major third-party developers. They recently decided to support Nintendo Switch thanks to the sales of the Street Fighter series.
  5. They supported the Dreamcast more than any other third-party developer at the time. They also supported the Wii.
  6. They are heavily involved in making licensed games for Disney, TV shows, etc.
  7. The gameplay in their games is fast-paced and very easy to get into.
  8. The company is known to create hardcore video games, such as the Mega Man series.
  9. They are one of the few companies that had the guts to make crossovers with other companies such as Marvel, SNK, Tatsunoko, etc.
  10. They helped bring very innovative gameplay, such as the extreme combat system for Devil May Cry being used in other hack-and-slash games.
  11. They published games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and God of War in Japan.
  12. They are now exploring their old franchises such as Mega Man and Devil May Cry.
  13. Even though they went downhill they recently improved a lot by doing quality games instead of joining trends, with the most recent good game they made was Devil May Cry V.
  14. Responsible for starting the fighting game craze of the 1990s!

Bad Qualities

They suffered a massive downfall in the 2010's, even though they're returning to their former glory. Click here to see their flaws. Even before and after their downfall, they made some mistakes.

  1. They made an unnecessary sequel to Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, which was primarily made to milk the X spin-off series. This caused the series to go downhill and later made the downward spiral much steeper with Mega Man X7 but thankfully, Mega Man X8 saved the franchise.
  2. Their E3 2021 presentation was awful, as they didn't show anything what fans wanted and instead showcased a eSports announcement for Street Fighter, and also the fact that many of the other games they showcased weren't very impressive at all, which has lead to many fans becoming disappointed and starting to believe that the company hasn't learned from their mistakes and is still making questionable decisions to this day (which could result in another downfall for the company).
  3. They support NFTs[1], mainly the one that used Ethereum (which the latter, are very harmful towards the environment by the way, considering ironically that Mega Man's Mega Buster runs on solar power, which is environmentally friendly).
