In November 2014, Mojang became part of Xbox Game Studios.

Why They Rock

  1. They created Minecraft, one of the most influential games in history. Speaking of which, it was ported to many platforms to be easily available.
  2. It was founded by the programer Markus "Notch" Persson, and even he isn't working in the company anymore his former partners as Jens "Jeb_" Bergensten still working to do a great job with Minecraft.
  3. They also made merchandise of Minecraft, like action figures, items from the game, even Lego sets.
  4. They created a few other games, and they rock too.
  5. Quality over quantity. Despite the fact that Minecraft has some rare updates, they are mostly fun and interesting in nature.
  6. At the day of today they still supporting Minecraft with big updates adding new objects, mobs, mechanics, etc. as well of fixing bugs.
  7. They allow players to test developed versions of future versions before releasing them.
  8. They teamed up with Warner Bros. to make a Minecraft film and it's still in production.

Bad Qualities

  1. In 2014, Persson, the founder, sold the company (along with Minecraft) to Microsoft, and it got downhill at some moment.
  2. Console versions of Minecraft like the PS Vita edition, were downgraded versions of the original.
  3. Both versions Java and Bedrock have some inconsistencies, as some features are absent of work different to each to other. Thankfully Mojang still working to make both versions as similar as possible.
  4. Many other games of them are usually lesser-known and obscure, and there were some projects which were scrapped in favor of Minecraft.
  5. They have a bad trend of putting new features behind votes. The most infamous example is the 2020 mob vote.
